Falkirk votes for a Fair Future

As you will probably be aware Thursday night saw Eric Joyce re-elected as MP for Falkirk. Congratulations, to both him and everyone in his campaign team who worked so hard on securing this stunning victory.

Across Scotland, Labour reinforced its position from 2005 and we are in a very good position to begin the fight to take back the Scottish Parliament from the SNP next May. I am still in shock at such brilliant results such as Gordon Banks in Ochil and South Perthshire. This and the other results shows that Labour is the party of Scotland once again.

In the UK we are seeing a situation now in which the Conservatives are the largest party in a hung parliament and it remains to be seen as to exactly how that will play out. In whatever the case you can be assured that Labour will continue to fight for its manifesto commitments as entrusted by the people who voted for us.

A Note to Undecided Voters

It is now officially the day of the election and as I write this there is only 22 hours before the General Election of 2010 is over.

After campaigning in Glasgow East for Margaret Curran, Anne McGuire in Stirling, and of course Eric Joyce in Falkirk over the last few days, I am full of hope that we will reelect as many Labour MP’s as possible to continue the great path that this government has put us on over the last 13 years. Certainly we have challenging economic times but Gordon has shown that he is the man to bring us through.

I would like to urge voters who are undecided or who are thinking of protest voting today that this is no time to turn your back on Labour and that we need your vote now more than ever. Your vote is and will never be taken for granted by a Labour Government which really does want  to create a Future Fair for All.

Lets go out and vote for it,

Campaigning for a Future Fair for All

The Falkirk Labour Party will be out in force campaigning every day from 2.00pm, meeting at Camelon Labour Club.
We’d like two shifts if possible, so some people between 2.00 pm and 4.00pm and another between 6.30 and 8.00ish.
Your party needs your support and any help you can give would be great.  Help us to keep Falkirk Labour!
Please give me a ring on 07751518115.

CLP Race Night

Comrades, I’m organising a race night for Saturday 17 April in the Labour Club.  Sorry about the short notice, but it was the only reasonably close date available.
We have 8 races with 8 horses so we need 64 owners and 8 race sponsors.  The race sponsor provides a prize which the winning horse owner receives.  It can be a bottle of wine, spirits, or £10 for example.  Whatever you’d like to donate.
Please let me know as soon as you can if you wish to become a horse owner as there are only 64 horses available.
There will also be a 9th auction race if time and circumstances permit.
Your support would be appreciated as the constituency party badly needs funds for campaiging for the forthcoming election, the Scottish Parliamentary election and the local council election later on.
Regards,
May McIntyre

A Future Fair for All

After attending the Scottish Labour Party Conference at the Glasgow Science Centre I really feel that this party has a very good chance of managing a fourth term if we go out and fight for it! There was so much energy and passion on Labour’s achievement’s and on the priorities we still have to make our country better through the 2nd decade of the 21st century. There were speeches by a lot of very good candidates and local members but it was John Prescott and Gordon Brown who really rallied the troops to go out there and win again for Labour.

The pledges are:

Secure the recovery – Secure the recovery and halve the deficit through economic growth, fair taxes and cuts to lower priority spending.

Raise family living standards
– Raise family living standards, keeping mortgage rates as low as possible; increasing tax credits for families with young children; providing new help for first-time buyers; and restoring the link between the state pension and earnings from 2012.

Build a high tech economy – Build a high tech economy, supporting businesses and industry to create 1 million more skilled jobs and modernising our infrastructure with High-Speed Rail, a Green Investment Bank and broadband access for all.

Protect frontline services – Protect frontline investment in policing, schools, childcare and the NHS, with a new guarantee of cancer test results within a week.

Strengthen fairness in communities – Strengthen fairness in communities through an Australian style points-based system to control immigration; guaranteed education, apprenticeships and jobs for young people; and a crack down on anti-social behaviour.

I will be ordering pledge cards so we can distribute to members at the next campaign meeting.
